US accuses Russia of turning its back on Armenia
The United States has stated that Russia has ceased to be a reliable ally for Armenia. In Washington's view, Moscow "turned its back" on Yerevan at a difficult moment. For this reason, the United States aims to help Armenia reduce its dependence on Russia.
American officials note that Russia has not fulfilled its alliance obligations, especially in the security sphere. This has forced the Armenian government to seek new partners and strengthen ties with the West. The US views this situation as an opportunity to strengthen democracy and stability in the region.
Washington is preparing to increase support for Armenia in various sectors. This refers to both economic development and energy independence. The US wants Armenia to have more choices and not be in a state of unilateral dependence on a single state.
These statements are being made against a background of regional tension. Relations between Armenia and Russia have cooled significantly recently. These steps by the United States could significantly change the balance of power in the South Caucasus, which is of great importance for Armenia's future.
