Changes in Armenia's Foreign Relations and Today's Main News
Today's main news concerns serious changes in relations between Armenia and Russia. The United States has declared that Russia has "turned its back" on Armenia. For this reason, Washington is now actively trying to help Armenia so that the country can reduce its economic and political dependence on Russia.
This statement by the US shows the change in the geopolitical situation in the region. Washington aims to strengthen Armenia's sovereignty and support the creation of new partnerships, which could open up new opportunities for the country on the international stage.
Another important event is the final withdrawal of Russian border guards from Yerevan's "Zvartnots" International Airport. On Wednesday, Russia officially completed this process, which had lasted several months. This is a significant step for Armenia on the path to establishing full control over its borders.
Armenian authorities had demanded as early as the beginning of this year that Russian border guards leave the airport. This demand was justified by the fact that Armenia now has sufficient capabilities and specialists to ensure the airport's security and border control on its own.
In addition to news of political and state importance, there is also information from the Armenian Diaspora community. We regret to inform you that Hasmik Kolanjian (née Karalekian) has passed away.
