Armenia’s Foreign Policy and Important Cultural Events
The United States has stated that Russia has "turned its back" on Armenia. For this reason, Washington is now working to reduce Armenia's dependence on Russia. At the same time, special representatives from Armenia and Turkey met to discuss the normalization of relations between the two countries. The parties spoke about the possibility of restarting railway links and other new agreements that could help open the borders.
The Artsakh issue remains on the international agenda. The Human Rights Union of Nagorno-Karabakh has sent letters to the Pope and UNESCO, requesting intervention regarding the safe return of Artsakh Armenians and the protection of cultural heritage. However, the Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) has strongly criticized the Biden administration for its failed policy on the Artsakh issue.
In the cultural sphere, the Armenian-American Museum of California is presenting the world premiere of the "Hope Rising" project. This special program is dedicated to Armenian dance and music. The powerful 1996 words of 13-year-old Maral Melkonian, "I am ready to fight for Armenia," are also mentioned, which continue to inspire young activists today.
