Australian woman dies in tragic accident at Bali tourist site
A 29-year-old Australian woman has died following a tragic accident at a popular tourist destination near Bali. The incident occurred on Saturday morning on Penida Island, a location frequently visited by international travellers.
Local authorities reported that the woman fell from a cliff while visiting the area. Emergency services were notified shortly after the fall, but unfortunately, the woman could not be saved and passed away at the scene.
Penida Island is well-known for its dramatic coastal scenery and steep cliffs, attracting thousands of tourists every year. While the island is a highlight for many visitors, local officials often remind travellers to exercise caution when exploring areas near high drops and uneven terrain.
The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has confirmed it is providing consular assistance to the woman’s family during this difficult time. Officials have not released further details regarding the identity of the victim out of respect for her family’s privacy.
This incident serves as a sad reminder for Australians travelling abroad to remain aware of their surroundings. Travellers are encouraged to follow all safety signs and stay on marked paths when visiting natural tourist attractions.
