A Perth man has died in a Bali hospital, more than two weeks after he was allegedly involved in a violent incident at a bar. Paul Dougan passed away on Thursday following the injuries he sustained during the altercation.
Indonesian authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack. Reports indicate that four Australians are currently being investigated by local police in connection with the incident.
Consular officials from the Australian government are providing support to the family of the deceased. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has confirmed they are assisting the family during this difficult time but have not provided further details due to privacy obligations.
As the investigation continues, police in Bali are working to gather evidence and interview witnesses who were present at the bar. The case remains a significant concern for Australian travelers visiting the popular holiday destination.
Authorities have reminded Australians traveling overseas to remain aware of their surroundings and to follow local laws. Further updates on the investigation are expected as the police process the evidence collected from the scene.
