European Cup exit for Austria Wien: Fans criticize style of play after draw against Braga
FK Austria Wien has officially been eliminated from the European Cup. Following a goalless 0-0 draw in the second leg against the Portuguese club SC Braga, the result was not enough for the Viennese side to advance to the next round of the competition.
The mood among the "Veilchen" supporters is divided after the match. While some fans praised the team's fighting spirit against a strong opponent, many supporters expressed clear criticism regarding the team's tactical approach. In particular, there were complaints that the team took too few risks for long stretches of the game to force the necessary victory.
The draw reflects the course of the match, in which both teams remained defensively stable but lacked sufficient cutting edge in attack. For Austria, the elimination now means they must focus entirely on domestic competitions in the Austrian Bundesliga.
The club's sporting management will have to analyze the match in the coming days in order to draw the right conclusions for the remainder of the season. Despite the disappointment of the international exit, the goal for the Viennese side remains to return to the successes of the past in the domestic league.
