Former prosecution team leader jailed for child porn previously directed primary schools
A former Public Prosecution Service team leader in Doetinchem has been sentenced to two years in prison for possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material. He had previously worked for years as a director at primary schools.
The 52-year-old man held a managerial position at the Oost-Nederland prosecutor’s office. Police found more than 46,000 images and over 450 videos involving boys aged between 8 and 14 on electronic devices seized from his home. Investigators also determined that he had shared some of the material with other people.
An investigation by De Gelderlander revealed that before joining the Public Prosecution Service, the man reportedly worked as a school director between 2011 and 2019. He was employed at two primary schools in the Achterhoek region, both belonging to the same school group.
The school group's administrator declined to discuss the former director or his time at the schools, citing privacy and legal restrictions. However, the administrator emphasized that the safety and well-being of children had always been the organization's priority.
During his trial, the man claimed that he may have downloaded some of the material accidentally. The court rejected this explanation, saying the enormous volume and consistent nature of the material made accidental downloads highly unlikely. Judges concluded that his actions contributed to the continued abuse of children.
The investigation began in October 2024 after police received information that the man intended to obtain hard drugs, including GHB, for sex parties at his home. Officers followed him to a suspected drug transaction, arrested him and seized his electronic devices.
Prosecutors also told the court that the man had shared the abusive material with acquaintances and allegedly encouraged a friend to abuse the friend's foster children. That friend and his partner were later arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse, and the children were removed from the home.
