14 injured after serious bus accident in South Tyrol
A serious traffic accident in South Tyrol on Tuesday left 14 people injured after a tour bus collided with several cars, triggering a large-scale emergency response involving firefighters, medical teams and police.
The crash occurred in the South Tyrolean area of Niederdorf. According to reports from Italian media, the collision involved a tour bus and multiple passenger vehicles, resulting in injuries to 14 people.
The Niederdorf Volunteer Fire Brigade was among the first emergency services to arrive. Firefighters secured the accident scene and the damaged vehicles while assisting medical personnel with the initial treatment of the injured.
The rescue operation required several emergency organizations to work together. The Welsberg Volunteer Fire Brigade, White Cross Innichen, a rescue helicopter, the provincial road service and the Carabinieri were also involved.
The road was closed temporarily while emergency crews cleared the scene and recovered the damaged vehicles. A local diversion was established through a municipal road to allow traffic to bypass the accident site.
After the injured passengers were taken away for medical treatment, the other passengers from the tour bus were transported to the Welsberg fire station. They were looked after there while waiting for a replacement bus to continue their journey.
Firefighters later assisted the towing service in removing the damaged tour bus from the scene. The circumstances that led to the collision and the exact severity of the injuries were not immediately disclosed.
