The future of e-mobility: Experts discuss expansion in Austria
At the 9th SMATRICS E-Mobility Talk, which took place on June 12, 2026, the focus was on the development of electromobility in Austria. Experts and decision-makers met to discuss current challenges and the necessary steps for a successful transition in transport.
A central theme of the event was the need to close existing gaps in infrastructure. Participants emphasized that the expansion of charging stations and technical networking are crucial for making electric cars more attractive to the general public. Only through comprehensive coverage can user confidence be strengthened in the long term.
In addition to infrastructure, the role of politics and the economy was also discussed. It became clear that close cooperation between the various stakeholders is necessary to achieve the set climate targets. This involves not only new technologies, but also the simplification of charging processes and integration into the existing power grid.
The event made it clear that Austria is facing important decisions. The experts agreed that rapid action is now required to efficiently address the "construction sites" of e-mobility. The results of the talk are intended to serve as a basis for future projects and political decisions in order to further advance the transition to environmentally friendly propulsion systems in Austria.
