Important Recall: HiPP Warns of Poison in Baby Food
The well-known baby food manufacturer HiPP has issued an urgent warning for parents in Austria. The company is recalling a specific variety of baby food jars because a dangerous contamination was discovered. There is a suspicion that traces of rat poison could be present in some jars.
Specifically affected is the variety "Carrots with Potatoes." According to the company, dangerous substances were found in individual samples that must not be consumed under any circumstances. Parents are asked to check their supplies at home immediately and not to feed the affected variety to their children.
Current investigations by the authorities lead to Upper Austria. There, it is currently being examined exactly how the poison could have gotten into the jars. It is still unclear whether it is a mistake in the production process or if the contamination was caused intentionally. The police and food inspection authorities are working closely together to resolve the case quickly.
Customers can return the affected products to all supermarkets and drugstores. The purchase price will be refunded to customers, even if they no longer have a receipt. HiPP emphasized in a statement that the safety of the youngest consumers is the highest priority and that everything is being done to find the cause.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injured children or illnesses in connection with this recall so far. Nevertheless, caution is high, as rat poison can be very dangerous even in small quantities. According to the current status, other products or varieties from the manufacturer are not affected by the problem.
Experts advise parents to regularly inform themselves about current product recalls. Information on this can often be found directly in stores or on the websites of food authorities. In this case, quick action is important to rule out any risk to the babies' health.
