Surprise Flights from Vienna: Austrian Airlines Launches Blind Booking
Those who love to travel but don't have a fixed destination in mind can now let Austrian Airlines surprise them. Austria's largest airline is now offering so-called "Blind Booking" for flights from Vienna. In this model, passengers book a flight without knowing exactly where the journey is actually going beforehand.
The principle behind the offer is simple and aimed at spontaneous travelers. Customers first select a specific category, such as "Metropolises" or "Sun and Beach." They then enter their desired travel dates. Only after the booking is completed and paid for do the passengers find out which European city they will be flying to.
The prices for these surprise trips are often significantly cheaper compared to regular bookings. A round-trip flight in Economy Class is available starting at 99 euros. For travelers seeking more comfort, there is also an offer for Business Class starting at 229 euros. With this step, Austrian Airlines is responding to the success of similar programs at competitors such as Eurowings.
For Vienna Airport, this new offer represents an interesting expansion for passengers. Since many people want to travel more often again after the pandemic but need to watch their budget, Blind Booking could become a popular option. Especially for young people or adventurers who are flexible with their destination, it offers an affordable way to discover Europe.
In summary, Austrian Airlines is moving with the trend and attempting to attract more customers for short trips. It remains to be seen how well the offer will be received in Austria. One thing is certain, however: for budget-conscious vacationers from Vienna, there is now a new and exciting way to plan their next holiday.
