Parliamentary Research: Dialogue between Emotion and Reason in Vienna
On June 16, 2026, the annual "Day of Parliamentary Research" took place in the Austrian Parliament. The Parliamentary Administration invited experts, scientists, and interested parties to discuss the current work of Parliament and to present new research findings.
A central theme of this year's event was the interplay between emotions and reason in political decision-making. Participants discussed how feelings influence public opinion and what role rational arguments should play in modern legislation.
In addition to the presentations, there were numerous opportunities for exchange. Scientists presented studies examining how citizens perceive the work of members of parliament. The goal of the event is to strengthen the connection between science and practical politics in Austria.
The "Day of Parliamentary Research" is a permanent fixture in the event calendar of the High House. It is intended to help make parliamentary work more transparent and to promote dialogue with society. The Parliamentary Administration is planning a similar conference again next year to shed scientific light on important social issues.
