Season kickoff for Vienna's football clubs: Who is showing the matches live?
The new football season is just around the corner, sparking great anticipation among fans in Austria. The season openers for the two traditional Viennese clubs, Austria Wien and Rapid Wien, are particularly at the center of public interest.
For supporters of Austria Wien, there is good news: the team's first match will be broadcast live on Austrian free-to-air television this coming Thursday. This allows all fans to follow the game comfortably from home without the need for a special subscription.
The situation is different for Rapid Wien. There will be no free-to-air television broadcast for the Hütteldorf side's first competitive match. Fans of the club will therefore have to look for other ways to watch their team's game live.
The varying availability of matches on television is a frequent topic regarding the broadcasting of the Austrian Bundesliga. While some matches are accessible to all viewers, others require a paid subscription with the respective rights holders.
Football fans in Austria should therefore check in advance exactly which channel or platform their respective club will be broadcast on. This way, they can ensure they do not miss the start of the new season.
