More physical activity for Lower Austria: New initiative for cycling clubs

The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and the association Cycling Austria have launched a new project in Lower Austria. The goal of this collaboration is to provide targeted support to cycling clubs in the region and to promote public health through increased physical activity.

As part of a special "club coaching" program, sports clubs will receive professional guidance. This focuses not only on athletic performance but, above all, on promoting health in everyday life. Experts will show clubs how to make their offerings more attractive in order to inspire more people to take up cycling.

Harald J. Mayer, President of Cycling Austria, emphasizes the importance of this cooperation. He views clubs as an essential venue for fostering health awareness among the population. Through the support of the ÖGK, the clubs are to be strengthened so that they can better fulfill their important social role within their communities.

The project is part of a larger strategy to establish cycling as a popular sport in Austria. In addition to physical activity, the focus is on the prevention of illness. Those responsible hope that, in the long term, the coaching will lead to more Austrians using bicycles regularly.

The initiative is starting in Lower Austria, but could be expanded to other federal states if successful. Interested clubs can register for the program immediately and benefit from the new consulting services.
