More Exercise: New Initiative for Cycling Clubs in Lower Austria
The Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK) and the association Cycling Austria have launched a new project in Lower Austria. The goal of the initiative is to provide professional support to cycling clubs and promote the health of their members. Through targeted "club coaching," sports offerings are to be made more attractive and sustainable.
The project places a special focus on the connection between physical activity and preventive healthcare. Experts are assisting clubs in developing training programs that are suitable for various age groups. This is intended to strengthen not only competitive sports but, above all, grassroots sports.
Harald J. Mayer, President of Cycling Austria, emphasizes the importance of this collaboration. A strong club system is crucial for inspiring people of all ages to engage in regular cycling. The ÖGK views this project as an important measure to improve the physical fitness of the population in the long term and to reduce the risk of lifestyle-related diseases.
Interested clubs in Lower Austria can participate in the coaching program starting immediately. The experts offer support in the areas of club organization, training methodology, and health management. The project serves as a pilot model and, if successful, could be expanded to other federal states in Austria.
