40,718 construction workers got heat-leave (Hitzefrei) this summer — a record
A record 40,718 construction workers at 1,792 companies received Hitzefrei (heat leave) during the first two months of summer 2026 — more than in any full year since the scheme was introduced in 2013, according to figures from the construction workers' holiday and severance fund.
