U20 Women's Basketball Euro: Belgian Cats finish just off the podium
The Belgian national women's basketball team, the Belgian Cats, finished in fourth place at the U20 European Championship. Despite a solid run, the young Belgian players were unable to secure a medal during this international competition.
The tournament was marked by a difficult semi-final against Israel, where the Belgians conceded defeat. This setback deprived the team of a spot in the final, forcing them to play the third-place match in hopes of reaching the podium.
During this bronze medal game, the Belgian Cats faced Spain. Despite all their efforts, they were defeated by a very competitive Spanish team. Nevertheless, this final result of fourth place remains an honorable performance for the national selection.
Among the players, Lalie Dupont from Tournai expressed her satisfaction with the work accomplished by the group. She highlighted the team's pride in their performances throughout the tournament, despite the disappointment of not returning with a medal.
This European experience is an important step for these young athletes. It confirms the dynamism of women's basketball in Belgium and promises a bright future for these players as they continue to progress on the international stage.
