Pesticides in strawberries & Red Devils in the quarter-finals
Belgian news is marked by a health alert regarding fruit quality and the success of the Red Devils at the World Cup. A study reveals a record presence of pesticides in strawberries, while the national football team qualifies for the quarter-finals.
Wash your fruit carefully: 78% of conventionally grown strawberries sold in Belgium contain pesticide residues. According to a survey conducted in eleven European countries, this rate is a record for the country, a situation deemed unacceptable for consumer food safety.
At the same time, Belgium will face Spain in the World Cup quarter-finals following their 1-4 victory against the United States. This success allows the Red Devils (the national team) to continue in the competition, with coach Rudi Garcia already stating his ambition to reach the semi-finals in the next match.
