Belgium invests 700 million euros to modernize its army
The Belgian government has announced a massive investment to strengthen its military capabilities. The total budget amounts to nearly 700 million euros. This money will primarily be used to purchase new missiles and advanced technological equipment for the air force.
A large part of this investment concerns the F-35 fighter jets. These modern aircraft will receive new missiles capable of striking targets at a very long distance. This improvement will allow Belgium to better protect its airspace and participate more effectively in complex international missions.
In addition to the fighter jets, the Belgian Defense will also equip its drones. Until now, these devices were mainly used for surveillance and reconnaissance. From now on, they will be armed with precision missiles. This changes the army's strategy, which will be able to intervene more quickly on the ground without endangering the lives of pilots.
This decision comes in a context of growing international tensions in Europe. Belgium wishes to modernize its equipment to remain a reliable partner within NATO. The country wants to ensure that its armed forces have the latest technologies to face current and future threats.
This new equipment will not be delivered immediately, as the acquisition and training process will take time. However, this purchase marks an important step for national defense. With these investments, Belgium shows its will to strengthen its security and play an active role in European collective defense.
