Twenty-three new projects to accelerate circular economy in Belgium
The federal government has selected 23 innovative projects intended to give a significant boost to the circular economy in Belgium. The initiative, called 'Belgium Builds Back Circular' (BBBC), focuses on using raw materials more efficiently and reducing waste in our society.
A circular economy is a system in which products and materials are reused for as long as possible. Instead of throwing raw materials away after use, they are deployed again as building blocks for new products. This helps to reduce the pressure on the environment and makes the Belgian economy less dependent on scarce raw materials from abroad.
The selected projects range from technological innovations to new ways of doing business. They will receive support from the government to put their ideas into practice and scale them up. The goal is to make these sustainable solutions visible in the daily life of the Belgian consumer and in the industrial sector as quickly as possible.
With this program, Belgium aims to play a leading role in the European transition to a sustainable future. By investing in these 23 projects, the government hopes not only to protect the environment but also to create new economic opportunities for companies that focus on sustainability.
In the coming period, it will become clear how these projects contribute to a greener economy. The initiative marks an important step in our country's ambition to be climate-neutral by 2050 and to keep the waste of materials to a minimum.
