Council of State annuls permit for attractions at Walibi following complaints
The Walibi Belgium amusement park in Wavre has received bad news. The Council of State has annulled the permit for several newer attractions. This decision follows persistent complaints from local residents regarding noise pollution.
The residents living near the park had been complaining for some time about the noise caused by the attractions. According to them, the noise level was too high, which compromised their living comfort. The Council of State has now determined that the permitting process was not followed correctly, meaning the current permit is no longer valid.
Despite the court's ruling, the amusement park remains open to visitors. Walibi Belgium has stated that the affected attractions do not need to be closed for the time being. The park is currently investigating how to address the situation and whether a new permit can be applied for.
It is not yet clear what the long-term consequences will be for the park's operations. The management of Walibi indicates that they wish to remain in dialogue with local residents and the local government to reach a solution that is acceptable to everyone.
