Your diesel will cost 2.407 euros per liter starting Friday
Starting Friday, September 11, the official maximum price for diesel B7 will increase by 5.1 cents to 2.407 euros per liter. This is according to the maximum rate published by the Federal Public Service Economy. It is the first time since April that the diesel price has exceeded 2.40 euros. The day before, the ceiling was still at 2.356 euros per liter.
The maximum price is the ceiling that gas station operators are allowed to charge. Many stations charge less, especially at unmanned pumps and along busy access roads, so the price you actually pay may be lower. The absolute record stands at 2.489 euros per liter, recorded on April 9, 2026. The increase follows higher oil prices in recent days, after the Brent price rose above 100 dollars per barrel.
For those who drive a diesel car to work every day, this adds up. For a full 50-liter tank, the increase amounts to approximately 2.5 euros extra. Those who drive for professional purposes, use a delivery van, or work in shifts and have no alternative to the car, will feel it more strongly.
What you can do: if you are reading this before Friday, fill up today, because the old ceiling applies through Thursday. If you are reading this later, compare the pump prices in your area before you fill up. The difference between the legal maximum and the actual pump price can reach several cents per liter in some places, and that weighs more heavily as the ceiling rises. The maximum prices are published daily by the Federal Public Service Economy and change at midnight each time.
