Symposium in Brussels focuses on accessible e-health for all Belgians
The FPS Public Health recently organized an important interfederal symposium entirely dedicated to digital healthcare. The goal of this event was to reflect on how e-health can be made more accessible to every citizen in Belgium. Experts and policymakers came together to discuss how digital tools can improve care for patients.
During the symposium, it was emphasized that technology plays a major role in modern healthcare. This includes online patient records, digital doctor appointments, or the secure exchange of medical data between hospitals. For many people, this is already quite normal, but for others, the digital world still presents a significant barrier.
An important point of discussion was the digital divide. The organizers want to prevent certain groups in society, such as the elderly or those less familiar with computers, from being left behind. Therefore, they are looking for ways to make digital healthcare solutions simpler and more user-friendly for everyone, regardless of their digital skills.
Collaboration between the various governments in our country is essential in this regard. Because healthcare in Belgium is regulated at different levels, a joint approach is needed to improve e-health in the same way across the entire country. The symposium served as a platform to strengthen this cooperation and forge concrete plans for the future.
The event underscores the importance of an inclusive healthcare sector in Belgium. In the coming years, work will continue on projects that ensure digital healthcare is a benefit for every Belgian, and not an obstacle. In this way, care should become more efficient, without losing sight of the human touch.
