Power outage at Charleroi Airport: a difficult evening for travelers
This Friday evening, Charleroi Airport (BSCA) in Belgium experienced an unusual situation. A general power outage disrupted activities at the site for nearly two hours. This incident caught hundreds of passengers and staff present on-site by surprise.
The power cut began suddenly, plunging the terminals into total darkness. According to witnesses, the lights went out and the information screens stopped working. This situation caused an immediate halt to check-in procedures and security checks, creating uncertainty among travelers.
Faced with this unforeseen event, airport staff had to organize quickly to manage the crowd. Employees used flashlights to guide people and tried to reassure worried passengers. Despite the lack of technical means, the teams did their best to maintain calm in the airport halls.
After about two hours of intervention, technicians managed to restore power. Computer systems restarted gradually, allowing operations to resume. However, several flights suffered significant delays because of this prolonged interruption of essential services.
Airport management confirmed that the situation had returned to normal later in the evening. They also apologized to travelers for the inconvenience caused by this technical incident. Fortunately, no serious consequences were reported during this event.
