Public Health: a new campaign to better understand your care
The FPS Public Health is soon launching a major national campaign in Belgium. The main objective is to improve the "health literacy" of citizens, that is to say, their ability to understand and use medical information to make informed decisions regarding their well-being.
At the heart of this initiative is the method called "Ask Me 3". This simple technique encourages patients to ask three essential questions to their doctor or healthcare professional during every consultation. The idea is to reduce stress and avoid misunderstandings that can occur during a medical appointment.
The three recommended questions are: "What is my main problem?", "What do I need to do to treat it?" and "Why is it important for me to do this?". By using these questions, the patient becomes a more active participant in their own care journey.
This campaign aims to make the Belgian healthcare system more accessible and effective for everyone. By fostering better dialogue between patients and professionals, the FPS Public Health hopes to improve the quality of care and the safety of the treatments followed by citizens.
Health authorities remind us that asking questions is not a sign of weakness, but a necessary step for better health. More information on this campaign will soon be available on the official FPS Public Health website to support patients in this process.
