Brussels celebrates the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States
The Cinquantenaire Park, located in the heart of the Belgian capital, was the setting for a major diplomatic event this Sunday, June 28, 2026. Numerous guests gathered to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States, a historic moment marking two and a half centuries of existence for the American nation.
The United States Ambassador to Belgium, Bill White, was present to preside over this official ceremony. This symbolic event underscores the close ties that unite Belgium and the United States, two historic partners on the international stage.
The choice of the Cinquantenaire Park is no coincidence. This iconic Brussels landmark, built to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of Belgium's independence, provided a solemn setting for this tribute to the democratic values shared between the two countries.
This celebration is part of a series of events organized around the world to mark this significant anniversary. For the Belgian citizens and expatriates in attendance, this gathering was an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic and cultural cooperation between Brussels and Washington.
