Orange Belgium launches a new TV decoder: what you need to know
Telecommunications operator Orange Belgium has just announced the launch of a new decoder for its television services. This device, presented as being more powerful and more environmentally friendly, is designed to offer a better user experience while reducing energy consumption.
However, this new product is not accessible to everyone in the same way. Orange has decided to prioritize this decoder for new customers who sign up for a subscription with the operator. This commercial strategy aims to attract new subscribers by offering them the latest technology directly.
For current customers who also wish to benefit from this new equipment, the situation is different. They cannot obtain it for free. If they wish to replace their old hardware with this more modern model, they will have to pay a fee of 49 euros.
This decision by the operator raises questions about the retention of existing customers. While the telecom market is highly competitive in Belgium, Orange is banking on this technological update to modernize its fleet of devices, while asking its long-standing subscribers for a financial contribution to access this improvement.
