New AI technology helps Belgian gardeners with plant care
A new technological development promises to make life easier for plant enthusiasts in Belgium. An innovative system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to accurately monitor the health of indoor and garden plants will soon be hitting the Benelux market.
The system works by means of small sensors that are placed in the potting soil. These sensors continuously measure important factors such as soil moisture, light levels, and temperature. The collected data is then sent to the user's smartphone via an app.
Thanks to the built-in AI software, the app can tell exactly what a plant needs at any given moment. If the soil is too dry or the plant is receiving too little sunlight, the owner receives an immediate notification. This is intended to help keep plants healthy for longer and prevent them from dying prematurely.
This technology is not only useful for hobby gardeners, but can also be used in professional horticulture. By better managing water consumption and growing conditions, growers can work more efficiently and reduce waste. The first products for consumers are expected to be in Belgian stores this autumn.
With this innovation, the gardening sector is taking a major step towards digitalization. It is a prime example of how modern technology can contribute to a more sustainable and greener living environment in our homes and gardens.
