World Cup: A quiet start to the evening for Jambes firefighters
Monday evening, the atmosphere was special at the Jambes fire station, located in the NAGE emergency zone. While the Red Devils were playing an important World Cup match, the rescuers were on high alert. They had to remain ready to intervene at any moment to ensure the safety of citizens during this major sporting event.
During the first part of the match, the firefighters' work was surprisingly quiet. No interventions were reported in the Namur region. The streets were calm and residents all seemed focused on their televisions to support the Belgian national team. Much like the start of the Devils' match, the situation at the station was very stable.
However, this calm did not last all evening. Just like the rhythm of the match on the field, the activity of the emergency services changed abruptly. It was at the moment of the equalizer, a powerful moment in the match, that the first requests for intervention began to arrive for the duty teams.
Authorities explain that moments of great sporting emotion can sometimes lead to minor incidents or accidents in public spaces. For the Jambes firefighters, the end of the evening was therefore much more eventful than the beginning, forcing them to leave the station to respond to emergency calls.
Despite this sudden acceleration of activity at the end of the match, the firefighters of the NAGE zone successfully fulfilled their mission. This event shows that, even during major moments of national celebration, emergency services remain vigilant and mobilized to protect the population.
