FPS Public Health launches new campaign for better healthcare communication
The Federal Public Service (FPS) Public Health has launched a new national campaign titled 'Tell me…' ('Vertel me eens…'). The initiative is aimed at both citizens and healthcare providers throughout Belgium. The goal is to improve communication between patients and doctors, because, according to the organization, good care begins with an open conversation.
The campaign emphasizes the importance of exchanging the right information. According to the FPS Public Health, a good understanding of prevention advice and medical treatments is essential for effective healthcare. By asking questions and listening carefully, misunderstandings can be avoided and the quality of care can increase.
In practice, citizens are encouraged to participate more actively in their own care process. It is often difficult for patients to fully understand medical information. The campaign therefore provides tools to ask questions to a general practitioner or specialist in a simple way. In this way, the patient gains more clarity about their health situation.
There is also an important role for healthcare professionals. They are encouraged to take the time for a good conversation and to explain complex information in an understandable way. By lowering the threshold for communication, the government hopes that patients will feel more confident in following medical advice.
With this campaign, the FPS Public Health aims to contribute to a healthier society in which the provision of information is central. In the coming period, the campaign will be visible through various channels, so that both patients and healthcare providers in Belgium are made aware of the importance of an open dialogue.
