Orange Belgium launches its new TV decoder: what you need to know
The operator Orange Belgium has just unveiled the 2026 version of its TV decoder. This new device promises to be more powerful while being more energy-efficient, an important feature for managing electricity consumption in Belgian households.
The new decoder integrates several popular streaming platforms directly. Users will be able to easily access Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime, or the RTBF Auvio platform from their television interface. This centralization aims to simplify the user experience by grouping entertainment services in one place.
However, the terms of access to this equipment differ depending on the customer's status. Orange has decided to reserve this new decoder for new subscribers. Existing customers who wish to benefit from this new technology will have to pay an activation fee of 49 euros.
This commercial strategy raises questions about the retention of existing customers. As the telecommunications market is highly competitive in Belgium, consumers will have to evaluate whether the technical improvements of the decoder justify this additional investment to replace their old equipment.
