Firefighter strike in Brussels on July 21: safety remains guaranteed
A joint trade union front has announced a total strike of operational staff at the Brussels Fire and Urgent Medical Assistance Service (Siamu) for July 21. This date is particularly symbolic as it coincides with the Belgian National Day, a time when emergency services are traditionally in high demand.
The unions took this decision to express their demands regarding working conditions and the resources allocated to Brussels firefighters. This strike action aims to make an impact during the official celebrations taking place in the heart of the capital.
Despite the scale of the strike call, the authorities have sought to reassure the public. The continuity of emergency services will be guaranteed throughout the day. A minimum service will be implemented to ensure the safety of citizens and respond to life-threatening emergencies during the festivities.
The organizers of the National Day and emergency services are working in close cooperation to ensure that this event takes place under the best possible conditions. However, the authorities are calling for caution and asking citizens to follow standard safety instructions during public gatherings.
