Bol.com launches new payment service for Belgian webshops
The well-known online retailer Bol.com is introducing a new service in Belgium called 'bol.checkout'. With this, the company is making its own payment technology available to other webshops for the first time. The goal is to make online shopping easier and faster for consumers.
When a customer shops at an affiliated webshop, an additional option will appear during checkout. Users can then log in with their existing Bol account to complete their purchase. This means customers do not have to re-enter their address details and payment preferences at every new webshop they visit.
For the webshops that use this technology, it offers advantages in terms of user-friendliness. Because the checkout process feels more familiar and reliable to the customer, there is a greater chance that a visitor will actually make a purchase. With this, Bol.com hopes to play a larger role in the Belgian e-commerce landscape.
This step marks a change in the company's strategy, as it previously only used its technology for its own platform. It is not yet known which specific Belgian webshops will be the first to start with the new payment method, but the rollout to the Belgian market has now officially begun.
