Romelu Lukaku set for special Napoli debut against father's former club
Romelu Lukaku is facing a remarkable moment in his career. The top Belgian striker is officially a player for Italy's Napoli and could make his debut for his new club this weekend. As fate would have it, his first match carries an immediate emotional weight: Napoli is set to take on Parma, the club where his father, Roger Lukaku, was active as a footballer in the past.
The transfer of Lukaku to Napoli was one of the most discussed topics in the football world this summer. After a spell at AS Roma, the Red Devil is now opting for a reunion with manager Antonio Conte, with whom he previously achieved great success at Inter Milan. Expectations among the fans in Naples are high, as the club hopes for a strong season in Serie A.
For Belgian football fans, Lukaku's performance continues to be closely monitored. Although he is no longer part of the current Red Devils squad, he remains one of the most well-known Belgian sports figures abroad. His physical strength and goal-scoring ability are still highly valued in Italy.
The match against Parma is seen as an important test for both the player and the team. Whether Lukaku will start immediately is not yet officially confirmed by the coaching staff. Nevertheless, all of football-loving Belgium is looking forward to his first minutes in the familiar light blue shirt of the Naples club.
