Belgium commits to circular economy with 23 new solutions
The Federal Public Service Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment has recently presented 23 innovative Belgian solutions that contribute to a circular economy. The goal of this initiative is to fundamentally change the way we design and use products. By using raw materials more intelligently, our country hopes to significantly reduce the mountain of waste.
A circular economy revolves around reusing materials and extending the lifespan of products. The presented solutions do not only focus on the end product, but start as early as the design phase. By thinking about recyclability from the very beginning, companies can reduce their ecological footprint.
In addition to the design of physical products, the initiators are also looking at new business models and services. This means that companies are increasingly choosing to offer a service instead of just selling a product. As a result, manufacturers remain responsible for the maintenance and final processing of their goods.
This step is important for Belgium in the fight against climate change and for the preservation of natural resources. The government hopes that these 23 examples will inspire other entrepreneurs to also make sustainable choices. In this way, the Belgian economy can eventually become fully circular.
