National ozone and heat alarm phase activated — orange alert nationwide
Belgium has activated the alarm phase of its national ozone and heat plan, with an orange alert covering almost the entire country. Temperatures are set to reach and exceed 35°C, and ozone levels in the air are high.
Authorities urge people to protect those most at risk — young children, older people and anyone living alone — by drinking enough water, staying cool and checking on vulnerable neighbours.
Limit strenuous activity during the hottest hours and follow official guidance until the heat eases.
