Major forest fire mobilizes firefighters on the Franco-Belgian border
A major fire broke out this Monday, July 20, in the early afternoon in the heart of the Ardennes forest, precisely on the border between Belgium and France. The fire started in a wooded area, prompting a rapid response from emergency services in both countries.
Belgian and French firefighters are currently working in close collaboration to bring the flames under control. The D7 departmental road, which connects to the French commune of Fumay, has been particularly affected by the operation, forcing authorities to take immediate safety measures in this forested sector.
The area in question is known for its dense vegetation, which makes the firefighters' work difficult despite the resources deployed. Local authorities are monitoring the situation closely to prevent the fire from spreading further toward inhabited areas or protected plots in the region.
For the moment, the precise causes of this fire remain to be determined. Emergency services recommend that motorists and hikers avoid the vicinity of the border in order to facilitate the passage of emergency vehicles and ensure everyone's safety.
