Football: Ralf Rangnick extends his contract with Austria until 2028
The Austrian Football Association announced important news this week. Ralf Rangnick, the national team coach, has officially extended his contract until Euro 2028. This decision comes at a symbolic moment, just five days before Austria's first match at the World Cup.
In the position since 2022, the German coach has profoundly transformed the Austrian national team. Under his leadership, the team has shown significant progress, first qualifying for Euro 2024 and then for this edition of the World Cup. This is a major achievement for the country, which had not participated in this international competition since 1998.
This contract extension is seen as a true mark of confidence from the leaders of Austrian football. By securing the coach's future just before the start of the tournament, the association aims to bring stability and serenity to the group. This allows the players and staff to focus fully on their sporting performance.
Fans are now eagerly waiting to see how Austria will perform during the competition. With Ralf Rangnick confirmed in his post for the next four years, the goal is clear: to permanently establish Austria among the top European nations. The first big test begins in a few days on the pitch.
