Twenty-three new projects to accelerate the circular economy in Belgium
The federal government has selected 23 innovative projects intended to give a significant boost to the circular economy in Belgium. The initiative, called 'Belgium Builds Back Circular' (BBBC), focuses on the more efficient use of raw materials and the reduction of waste in our society.
A circular economy is a system in which products and materials are reused for as long as possible. Instead of throwing away raw materials after use, they are reintegrated into the production process. This not only helps to protect the environment but also makes the Belgian economy less dependent on foreign raw materials.
The selected projects are highly diverse, ranging from technological innovations to new ways of doing business. They are supported by the federal government to ensure that good ideas can truly grow and have a measurable impact on society. With this, the government hopes to set an example for other sectors.
Through this investment, Belgium aims to play a leading role in Europe in the field of sustainability. By focusing on innovation, the country hopes to accelerate the transition to a greener economy while simultaneously creating new opportunities for businesses and employment.
In the coming period, it will become clear how these 23 projects contribute in practice to a more sustainable Belgium. The initiative is an important step toward a future in which waste occurs less and less frequently and reuse becomes the standard.
