Dutch driver ends up on a staircase on the Belgian coast
An unusual incident disrupted the calm of a Belgian seaside resort this weekend. A Dutch motorist, visibly distracted, drove their vehicle directly into a staircase leading to the promenade, causing surprise among passersby and local authorities.
According to initial reports, the driver apparently mistook the staircase for a vehicle access ramp. Fortunately, this accident resulted in no serious injuries, but the car remained stuck on the steps, requiring the intervention of a specialized tow truck to remove the vehicle.
The local police quickly secured the area to avoid any danger to the many tourists present on the promenade. Authorities are reminding drivers of the importance of remaining vigilant behind the wheel, even in vacation areas where signage may sometimes differ from that of other countries.
This event serves as a reminder to motorists, both Belgian and foreign, of the need to scrupulously respect the rules of the road. Repair work to restore the staircase is expected to begin in the coming days to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
