Bolivia faces blockades in six departments after three weeks of protests

Bolivia is experiencing a complex situation due to protests that began nearly three weeks ago. Currently, six of the country's nine departments are suffering from blockades on their main highways. This situation significantly affects the mobility of citizens and the transport of basic products between regions.

The department of La Paz is the most affected by these pressure measures, with a total of 17 recorded blockade points. Other departments in a critical situation are Oruro and Cochabamba, where 12 points of interruption are reported in each. These areas are fundamental for land connection in the center and west of the country.

The protests have also spread to other regions, although with less intensity. In Potosí, three blockade points have been reported, while in Santa Cruz there are two. Chuquisaca also records interruptions on its roads, thus completing the list of the six geographical areas currently experiencing transit problems.

The blockades have generated great concern among the population and local authorities. The lack of passage on the highways prevents food, medicine, and fuel from reaching the main cities normally. This has caused an increase in the prices of some basic basket products and difficulties for passenger transport.

For the moment, the demonstrations continue and a definitive agreement to clear the routes has not been reached. National authorities are seeking to establish dialogues with the mobilized sectors to normalize the situation and avoid further damage to the country's economy, which depends on free transit through these main routes.
