Roadblocks in Cochabamba interrupt transport to eastern Bolivia
The city of Cochabamba, in central Bolivia, is currently isolated from the east of the country due to several roadblocks on the main highways. These pressure measures have interrupted traffic on key routes, affecting both the transport of goods and the movement of citizens and tourists.
The most significant point of conflict is located in Huayllani, where the protest has grown in size in recent hours. The blockade directly affects Villazón Avenue and extends to the areas of Aguirre and Colomi. These routes are essential for connecting Cochabamba with Santa Cruz and other regions of eastern Bolivia.
Due to the disruption of passage, hundreds of passengers have been forced to walk long distances with their suitcases. Many of them must perform transfers—that is, get off one vehicle, cross the blockade on foot, and find another transport on the other side to continue their journey. This situation causes major delays and difficulties for travelers.
Local authorities report that transit to the east is completely interrupted. Protesters are maintaining their positions and are not allowing trucks or long-distance buses to pass. So far, no agreement has been reached to clear the roads, which maintains a climate of uncertainty in the region.
It is expected that solutions to resolve the conflict peacefully will be sought in the coming hours. Meanwhile, citizens are advised to avoid traveling on these routes and to stay informed about the state of the roads through official reports from the police and transport authorities.
