Bolivia announces legal measures against those who damage the country's roads
Bolivia's Ministry of Public Works has announced that it will initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for causing damage to national highways. This decision follows a series of incidents and blockades that have severely affected road infrastructure in different regions of the country.
The Minister of Public Works, Mauricio Zamora, explained that the main objective is to identify those responsible for this destruction so they can face the consequences of their actions. According to the government, vandalism on main routes not only generates economic losses but also affects the free movement of citizens.
To facilitate the identification of those responsible, the government has implemented a citizen collaboration strategy. A WhatsApp group has been created that includes transporters from across the country. This tool will allow drivers to send reports, photos, and videos in real-time regarding any damage or irregularities they observe on the roads.
The minister highlighted that this initiative seeks to strengthen "social control." By working together with the transport sector, authorities hope to receive direct information from the locations where incidents occur. This will allow for a faster response from the police and the judicial system.
Finally, the government reminded that road maintenance is fundamental to the national economy and traveler safety. Authorities assured that they will not allow specific groups to damage public assets that belong to all Bolivians and that they will continue working to ensure safe routes throughout the territory.
