San Julián: Community members resume road blockades after a brief pause
In the San Julián region, located in the department of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, community members have decided to reinstall road blockades. This pressure tactic was reactivated on Monday night after protesters allowed a brief three-hour pause for vehicles to pass. However, after this break, the route was completely closed once again.
This conflict is now in its 13th day and affects the main highway connecting Santa Cruz with other important regions of the country. Local groups have declared that the protest is indefinite. According to the organizers, the goal is to pressure authorities to address their demands, although the situation remains without a definitive resolution.
During the "intermediate quarter" or temporary pause, hundreds of trucks and buses were able to advance slightly on their journey. Nevertheless, many drivers and passengers still remain trapped on the road, facing difficulties in obtaining food and water. The traffic disruption is causing significant economic losses for the transport and trade sectors.
The situation in San Julián is tense, and protesters assert that they will not abandon the blockade points until they receive an official response. Meanwhile, police and local authorities are observing the development of events, hoping that a dialogue can be established to end this measure of force that affects thousands of Bolivian citizens.
