Bulgaria ranks 12th in the EU for residential energy efficiency
Bulgaria ranks 12th among European Union countries in terms of home energy efficiency. According to the latest data, nearly 30 percent of the country's population lives in dwellings that have undergone energy-saving improvements.
This indicator is important because energy efficiency helps households reduce their heating and cooling costs. Furthermore, better-insulated buildings contribute to environmental protection by reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
Although our country is in the middle of the European ranking, there is still a need for more investment in the renovation of old buildings. Many of the residential blocks in Bulgaria were built decades ago and are in need of new insulation and more modern window frames.
The European Union actively supports energy efficiency programs through various funds. The goal is for the building stock in Europe to become completely climate-neutral by 2050.
In conclusion, improving energy efficiency remains a priority for Bulgaria. It is expected that in the future, more Bulgarians will live in modernized and economical homes, which will lead to a higher standard of living and lower energy bills.
