Rise in respiratory infections in Bulgaria: free vaccines for the youngest
Over the past week, Bulgaria has seen a significant increase in cases of acute respiratory infections. According to data from health authorities, the number of registered patients has risen from 840 to 1,200, indicating an intensification of viral activity in the country.
The morbidity rate has now reached nearly 35 per 10,000 people. Experts note that this is an expected phenomenon for the season, as the weather changes and people spend more time in enclosed spaces.
In response to the situation, the Ministry of Health is reminding the public of the possibility of protection through immunization. As part of the measures to limit the spread of viruses, the state is providing free flu vaccines for children up to the age of 7.
Doctors advise parents to consult their children's general practitioners to take advantage of the program. In addition to vaccination, specialists recommend regular hand washing, ventilating rooms, and avoiding contact with people who are already showing symptoms of a cold or flu.
Health services will continue to monitor the situation in the country over the coming weeks. Citizens are urged to be responsible and to seek medical attention at the first sign of symptoms in order to avoid complications.
