Bulgaria, Romania, and Spain join forces to secure airspace
Bulgaria, Romania, and Spain have signed an important trilateral agreement aimed at improving security in the region. The three countries have agreed to conduct joint cross-border operations to secure NATO airspace.
This cooperation is part of the Alliance's efforts to strengthen defense in Eastern Europe. Through the agreement, the air forces of the three countries will be able to coordinate their actions more effectively when carrying out "Air Policing" missions.
The technical document allows allied aircraft to cross national borders when necessary to protect the skies. This ensures a faster response to potential threats or unauthorized flights near NATO borders.
Spain is actively supporting the Alliance's eastern flank, frequently deploying its fighter jets and personnel to Bulgaria and Romania. This partnership demonstrates the unity among member states and their readiness to work together to maintain peace and stability in the region.
