Activists place "TOXIC" sign in front of TPP Bobov Dol
On Wednesday, activists from the environmental organization Greenpeace Bulgaria organized a protest action in front of TPP Bobov Dol. They placed a huge sign with the word "TOXIC" directly under the plant's chimneys to draw attention to air pollution in the region.
The environmentalists' goal is to show their disagreement with the operation of the coal-fired power plant. According to them, the plant's activities have a negative impact on the environment and the health of people living near the facility.
The management of TPP Bobov Dol responded to the criticism by stating that they are planning changes to their production process. They claim that the plant is gradually transitioning to the use of natural gas and other alternative fuels in order to reduce harmful emissions.
Despite these promises, environmental organizations remain skeptical and are insisting on faster and more transparent actions. They believe that the transition to cleaner energy must happen more effectively in order to protect nature in Bulgaria.
The situation surrounding TPP Bobov Dol remains a subject of public debate. It is expected that institutions will continue to strictly monitor whether the plant complies with environmental standards and whether the promised investments in new fuels will be implemented on time.
