25 Years of Mobile Communications: The Journey from Globul to Yettel
This year, one of the leading mobile operators in Bulgaria celebrates its 25th anniversary. The company's history began in 2001, when the Globul brand appeared on the Bulgarian market. This event changed the way Bulgarians communicate and marked the beginning of a new era in telecommunications in the country.
Over the years, the operator went through many stages of development and technological change. From the first voice call services to the introduction of mobile internet, the company constantly invested in its network. In 2013, it became part of the international Telenor group, which brought new standards in service and connection quality for consumers in Bulgaria.
In 2022, another major change occurred – the rebranding under the name Yettel. This move was part of the strategy of the new owner, the investment fund PPF Group. Despite the name change, the company's focus remained on the development of the 5G network and the provision of modern digital services for its customers.
Today, Yettel is one of the largest employers in the technology sector in Bulgaria. The company is actively working on projects related to sustainable development and environmental protection, while continuing to expand the reach of its services across the country.
The anniversary is an occasion for reflection not only for the company but also for the development of the entire mobile market in Bulgaria. Over the last quarter of a century, mobile phones have turned from a luxury into a necessity, and the development of operators has played a key role in the digitalization of Bulgarian society.
