New doses of flu vaccines arriving in Bulgaria in November
In November, 70,000 doses of flu vaccines intended for the commercial market are expected to arrive in Bulgaria. These deliveries aim to provide better protection for the population against seasonal viruses, which typically become more frequent in late autumn and early winter.
Health authorities remind the public that a national program for free immunization of specific population groups is in effect in the country. Children aged from 6 months to 7 years inclusive are eligible for a free vaccine. Additionally, the program covers children with chronic conditions up to the age of 17.
For other citizens who do not fall into these groups, the vaccines will be available through the pharmacy network. Experts advise people to consult with their general practitioner before receiving the vaccine to ensure it is suitable for their health condition.
Specialists emphasize that autumn is the most suitable time for vaccination, as the body needs about two weeks to build the necessary immunity. Timely preparation is key to reducing the risk of severe complications after contracting the flu.
